Westhaven Promenade wire balustrade infill
About the project
Stage One of the Westhaven Boardwalk connects Westhaven to the Wynyard Quarter and provides a shared promenade for walkers and cyclists along the Auckland Harbour waterfront. In keeping with the aesthetic of the harbour’s yachts and the marine heritage of the area, boardwalk architects LandLAB specified a stainless steel cable balustrade with timber handrail and corner posts for fall protection on both the seaward and landward sides of the wide timber boardwalk.
This was the first project for SRS Group, starting back in December 2014. Working in conjunction with Ronstan, we supplied all marine-grade stainless steel cable, cable end-terminations, and tensioners and installed them along a large section of the boardwalk.
SRS Group undertook and completed the second stage of this project at the end of 2020 which saw a continuous shared path along Westhaven’s foreshore between Wynyard Quarter and the Auckland Harbour Bridge. It is a long-awaited connection between the existing and well-loved stage one promenade sections which were completed in 2015. Once again SRS Group managed, in conjunction with Ronstan, the supply of marine grade stainless steel cable, cable end-terminations, and tensioners and installed them along the newest section of the boardwalk.
